While some might argue that there’s no such thing as ‘ideal football weather,’ one doesn’t have to be a football savant to realize that some NFL games are played under hostile conditions.
Playoff football is for the toughest, and the Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and Pittsburgh Steelers will have to find out the hard way.
According to Colin McCarthy on Twitter, NFL fans will witness two of the most extreme weather games in league history.

Apparently, wind chills are expected to drop as low as -30°F in Kansas City when the Chiefs host the Dolphins, and the Bills and Steelers will play under heavy blowing snow, with wind gusts up to 45 mph and near-zero-degree wind chills.
Needless to say, the Chiefs and Bills are somewhat used to playing under those conditions, whereas it shouldn’t be something new to the Steelers, either.
The Dolphins, on the other hand, have struggled mightily in below 20-degree temperatures in the past decade or so.
These games could be low-scoring and not precisely pretty to watch.
Ironically, that’s also part of the beauty of the playoffs and just one of the many reasons why home-field advantage could be so crucial at this point in the year.
These games can be decided by one single play.
It’s not easy to move the chains under those conditions, and the running game could play a crucial factor in determining who moves on to the AFC Divisional Round, hoping the weather gets less hostile for those matchups.
