Las Vegas Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce isn’t a shoo-in to retain his job, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t trying to learn as much as he can while he leads the team.
Pierce, a former linebacker who played nine years in the league, is reportedly picking the brains of other men who’ve held the same title of NFL head coach.
Tom Coughlin, Marvin Lewis and Adam Gase were reportedly at the Raiders team facility this past week, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, where they sat in on meetings and gave Pierce advice on different parts of the job.
As Antonio Pierce’s on-the-job training as #Raiders interim head coach continues, he’s soaking up every way to improve his team — including having former head coaches Tom Coughlin, Marvin Lewis and Adam Gase sitting in on meetings this week. Story:https://t.co/0y8gVofcKQ

The trio of Coughlin, Lewis, and Gase have 41 combined years of NFL head coaching experience at various organizations and under various owners.
Coughlin coached in the NFL from 1995-2015 for the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Giants, including five years as Pierce’s head coach in New York.
Lewis coached Pierce as a player and coached him as an assistant coach: He was Pierce’s defensive coordinator when he played in Washington in 2002 and then coached at Arizona State from 2019-2020 when Pierce was also an assistant with the Sun Devils.
Lewis also was the head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals from 2003-2018.
Gase doesn’t have an immediate connection to Pierce but does have head coaching experience with the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets.
He was an assistant coach for various teams from 2005-2015 as well.
So while Pierce may not become the full-time head coach of the Raiders after this season, he’s at least making the most out of the opportunity to hopefully get another shot at the top job.
