The Philadelphia Eagles took a big chance this offseason.
They spent some big bucks to get Saquon Barkley, who’s one of the best players on the field when available.
The issue is precisely that.
He’s spent plenty of time on the shelf since he entered the league, and he plays in one of the most physical positions in the game.
Nonetheless, the Penn State product isn’t worried about its ability to produce.
Talking about the upcoming campaign, Barkley claimed that he knows he’s still one of the best — if not the best — running back in the league (Via Around the NFL):
“For me, it’s simple,” Barkley said. “When I’m on the field, I’m one of the best, if not the best. I just have to stay on the field.”

He talked about his determination to stay on the field next season.
Notably, he won’t be asked to do all the heavy lifting in Philadelphia like he was asked in the Big Apple.
Unlike what happened during his days with the New York Giants, he’s going to play behind one of the best offensive lines in the game and side by side with some elite skill players like DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown.
The Eagles have more than enough resources to be the team to beat in the NFC, even ahead of the San Francisco 49ers.
Stealing Barkley away from a divisional rival was a master move by Howie Roseman.
And while there will always be injury concerns with any running back, and especially with him, he’s also the ultimate high-risk/high-reward pickup and a guy who could help them get over the hump once and for all.
