It feels like the 2023 NFL season has already passed the New York Giants by as they sit at 1-5 and at the bottom of the NFC East.
The Giants were expected to make a leap after their successful 2022 campaign, but that’s been the complete opposite this year as the team struggles to find any sort of momentum.
New York has dealt with a bevy of injuries on the offensive side, particularly along the offensive line.
However, the team was also without Saquon Barkley who dealt with a high-ankle sprain before he returned in Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills.
Barkley didn’t look quite like himself which was to be expected, but he alone can’t turn around the Giants’ fortunes.
There are murmurs that Barkley could end up being traded, but he emphasized that he wants to stay with New York via Eric Edholm of NFL.com.
“Sitting here, everyone knows how I feel, everyone knows I don’t want to get traded,” Barkley said.

The NFL trade deadline is in a couple of weeks and with teams looking to shore up their rosters to make a playoff push, Barkley should be a popular name in discussions.
The Giants aren’t going to be making the postseason at this rate, and it might be time to seriously consider offers for their star running back.
Barkley’s currently playing on a one-year deal after he and New York failed to reach an agreement on an extension, so any team trading for him could potentially be looking at a rental.
However, Barkley’s so good that he could be a legitimate game-changer in the right situation.
