After a bizarre wine glass accident sidelined him, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is finally back on the golf course, ready to compete at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The 28-year-old star, who has missed the first few tournaments of 2025, is refreshed, refocused, and more motivated than ever.
Scheffler’s Freak Injury: “It Was So Stupid”
Over Christmas, Scheffler suffered a freak injury when a wine glass shattered in his hand, forcing him to undergo minor surgery. While the incident could have derailed his season, Scheffler remains unfazed.
“Not at all,” Scheffler said when asked if he was nervous about returning.
“Immediately after it happened, I was mad at myself because I was like, ‘Gosh, that’s so stupid.’ But you just don’t think about it when you’re in the moment.”
Despite the frustration, the two-time Masters champion has fully recovered and is ready to get back to dominating the PGA Tour.
How Bad Was the Injury? “I Knew Something Was Up”
Scheffler admitted that while the injury wasn’t catastrophic, he immediately knew something was wrong when he struggled to move his hand.
“It really wasn’t terrible, but I knew I kind of messed something up. The way my hand wasn’t really moving much, and if I did move it, it hurt pretty badly. So I kind of knew something was up.”
After missing two tournaments, Scheffler has been working hard to regain his rhythm, determined to pick up where he left off last season.
Can Scheffler Stay No. 1 in 2025?
While he insists his injury won’t affect his tournament schedule, Scheffler may consider adding extra events to make up for lost time.
“I don’t think it will change my schedule much, but we’ll see how things go.”
With Jon Rahm’s blockbuster LIV Golf move and Rory McIlroy looking to reclaim dominance, Scheffler will have plenty of competition at the top. But if his past form is any indication, he’s still the man to beat.
Can Scheffler bounce back from injury and continue his reign as the world’s best golfer? Pebble Beach will be his first big test.
