The Arizona Diamondbacks are a relatively new franchise, having entered the league in the 1998 MLB expansion.
They won the World Series just three years after that, in 2001, in impressive fashion.
Since then, however, their playoff success was limited.
They did make the postseason five times after that, including the current campaign, but they reached the Championship Series just once, in 2007.
Back then, they were swept by the Colorado Rockies.
On Thursday, they won their first NL Championship Series game in 22 years.
“Ketel Marte delivers, and the D-backs win their first NLCS Game since 2001. 2-1 over the Phillies,” MLB insider Bob Nightengale tweeted.

22 years later, Arizona fans get to celebrate an NLCS win, with everything that this specific victory brings with it.
It represented a chance to be down in the series against the tough Philadelphia Phillies by just one game instead of three.
Losing would have put the D-Backs in an 0-3 hole, and just one team in the history of baseball has won a series after being down 0-3.
The two teams will meet again on Friday at Chase Field, in front of Arizona’s fans, and the home team will try to even the series and give their supporters a chance to dream big.
Just being in the NLCS is a victory for a young D-Backs team that lost 110 games just two years ago, in 2021.
However, now that they are here, this group of players and manager Torey Lovullo will try to do everything in their power to advance to their first Fall Classic since that glorious one in 2001.
