The Washington Commanders have been a scrappy bunch through six weeks as they’ve managed to claw their way to a 3-3 record.
Playing in the NFC East is a tough draw as they’ve got to contend with the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, though Week 7 represents a matchup against the division’s worst team the New York Giants.
The Giants have arguably been the most disappointing team during the 2023 NFL season as they went from a Wild Card team last year to likely missing the postseason altogether.
Injuries have ravaged New York, particularly along the offensive line where they’re set to miss multiple starters against Washington.
Their weak offensive line plus Tyrod Taylor stepping in as the starter for Daniel Jones could spell trouble for the Giants.
However, Washington head coach Ron Rivera isn’t overlooking New York at all via John Keim of ESPN.
“To think they’re just going to line up and open the door [is] crazy. These guys are professionals…. doesn’t matter what the record is. Divisional games bring a little something extra,” Rivera said.

Divisional games always have some extra meaning for teams considering they see each other twice a year, and on any given week a team can win if they execute well enough.
New York came close to upsetting the Buffalo Bills in Week 6, but fell just short in the closing moments.
The Commanders have been solid when playing with a lead, though they’ve also shown to be inconsistent at times.
This is a game Rivera’s team should win, though the Giants are going to try and make it as tough as possible for them to do so.
