The New York Giants‘ 2023 NFL season is quickly going down the drain as they’re 1-5 and in danger of losing again this Sunday to the Washington Commanders.
The Giants’ lone win of the season came against the Arizona Cardinals, though they needed a massive second-half performance from Daniel Jones to complete the comeback.
Jones looks like he’s regressed since his great 2022 campaign as he’s looked just off throwing the football.
Although he’s been able to manufacture plays with his legs, it’s clear that he’s not the same player the Giants were hoping for.
To make matters worse, Jones has been dealing with a neck injury he suffered in their Week 5 loss to the Seattle Seahawks that forced him to miss Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills.
Although he’s listed as questionable on the injury report, Jones isn’t expected to suit up against the Commanders via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
Sources consider #Giants quarterback Daniel Jones (questionable, neck) a longshot to play Sunday vs. #Commanders, per sources.

This was to be expected, so in his place, Tyrod Taylor will get his second consecutive start.
Taylor looked solid in Week 6 against the Bills and even almost led the Giants to victory in the closing minutes before they got stopped at the goal line.
If New York wants to keep their season alive, they absolutely need to win against Washington on Sunday though that’s not gonna be an easy task.
The Commanders have been a feisty team all season and have enough talent on both sides of the ball to overwhelm the Giants.
If Taylor is unable to get the job done, it wouldn’t be surprising to see New York pivot ahead of the trade deadline.
