Bill Belichick has been the head coach of the New England Patriots since the 2000 season, and during his tenure with the franchise, he’s helped lead the team to a ton of success.
But this season has been a different story for Belichick and the Patriots, as the team is off to a miserable start with only one win in their first six games.
New England’s struggles have led to plenty of speculation about the future of their longtime head coach and how much longer he will remain with the franchise.
But according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport on Sunday, Belichick reportedly signed a new multi-year contract extension with the Patriots this past offseason, so it doesn’t seem like he will be leaving his position as the team’s head coach anytime soon.

New England has missed the playoffs twice since the 2020 season, and they’re likely on their way to missing out on the postseason again this year.
Normally, that lack of success would lead to a team making a head coaching change more often than not.
But when it comes to Belichick, one of the most successful head coaches in the history of the NFL, he, understandably, is going to get a longer leash than someone who has only been a head coach in the league for a few years.
At 71-years-old currently, we shouldn’t expect Belichick to remain the head coach of the Patriots for the next decade.
But, with the news of his new contract extension, we now know that the 2023 season is highly unlikely to be his last in New England.
