Last season, the Cleveland Browns thought their 2023 campaign had been derailed, with the team losing their two-best players on the offensive side of the football after only six games played in the regular season.
Both superstar running back Nick Chubb and star quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered season-ending injuries, which changed everything for Cleveland in terms of their hopes of contending in a very competitive division and the AFC in general.
Although the team still doesn’t have Chubb back on the field, Watson seems to be back to form during training camp, and that bodes well for a solid start to the upcoming regular season.
However, the team may already be dealing with a significant injury in camp, with veteran defensive end Za’Darius Smith going down with an injury that required he be taken off the practice field in a cart, which is never a good sign, especially for an older player via Dan Labbe of Cleveland.com.

Even though injuries happen frequently in a sport as violent as football on a level as fast and competitive as the NFL, the last thing the Browns want to see is another game-changing player going down with something that might be significant.
It is uncertain what Smith’s injury is and how significant it may be, but the way he was carted off the field doesn’t look good right now, and bad news about his status may soon follow.
In 2023, Smith played in 16 games for the Browns and finished with three passes defensed, one forced fumble, 5.5 sacks and 27 solo tackles.
