Some developing news is coming out of the Saints’ building down in the bayou.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Pro Bowl safety Justin Simmons, who parted ways with the Denver Broncos earlier this offseason after eight seasons, is visiting the Saints today.
The 30-year-old is arguably the best free agent available and could find a new home in Dennis Allen’s defense.

No safety has had more interceptions since he entered the league in 2016 than Simmons (30).
He has had six seasons with at least 50 solo tackles and has recorded multiple interceptions in every year of his career.
If New Orleans were to sign Simmons, he could then be paired with All-Pro safety Tyrann Mathieu on the back end of Dennis Allen’s defense.
Combined, both have almost 20 years of NFL experience and could form one of the league’s best defensive duos.
Take into account too that other Pro Bowl players such as edge-rusher Cam Jordan, linebacker Demario Davis, and cornerback Marshon Lattimore are in the fold on the defense down there.
In a division that saw the resurgence of Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pro Bowl quarterback Baker Mayfield last season and the arrival of Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins to the Atlanta Falcons earlier this offseason, New Orleans may need all the help that they can get defensively.
A defense that finished in the top 10 last season in pass defense and points allowed, the Saints could be even more formidable if they signed Simmons.
Time will tell to see if they can make the move happen or not.
