As usually happens with kickers, the Los Angeles Rams didn’t want to take any more chances.
Sean McVay’s team couldn’t beat the Pittsburgh Steelers as three-point home favorites, and it seems like they’re blaming K Brett Maher for it.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Rams have officially released the veteran.
They’ll sign former Indianapolis Colts kicker Lucas Havrisik, who’s currently working with the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad.

Maher missed multiple field goals for the third time in just seven weeks this season and he has converted just 73.9% of his field goal attempts.
The former Dallas Cowboys veteran missed two field goals and an extra point, costing his team the exact seven points they lost by against the Steelers.
He missed from beyond 50 yards twice, with his second kick going wide left.
The Rams had a seven-point cushion in the third quarter, but to no avail.
Maher finished 1 for 3 on the day and has gone 17 of 23 this season.
Ironically, his 17 field goals are tied for the most in the league, but that only headlines the Rams’ issues and offensive woes, as they’ve failed to make the most of their trips to the red zone.
Special teams are a crucial aspect of the game, and while kickers don’t make nearly half as much as other stars, teams cannot trust unreliable kickers.
The Rams are looking to enter the mix for a playoff spot, and McVay will hold everybody accountable if they don’t do their job right.
