The San Diego Padres were one of the most disappointing teams in baseball this past season.
Entering the year, they had World Series expectations.
Looking at the moves they made in the offseason, they had one of the best rosters in baseball.
But, for some reason, the Padres struggled to have any success.
The lifeblood of every good franchise is stability.
From the front office to the manager to the players, having stability is always a positive.
But in San Diego, stability has been tough to come by.
As noted by Danny Vietti, Padres GM A.J. Preller took over the team in 2015.
He is now set to have his seventh manager in nine years.
AJ Preller’s first full season as Padres GM was 2015.
He is now searching for his 7th manager in 9 years.

Not having one consistent voice in the locker room could be part of the issue.
Most recently, the Padres allowed Bob Melvin to sign with the San Francisco Giants.
He was still under contract in San Diego but it was clear they were ready to part ways.
The Padres still have a roster that is ready to win now.
So Preller and company must find a manager who can help them do that.
Outside of the new manager, it will be interesting to see what moves the Padres make in the offseason.
The biggest move will be to decide what to do with pitcher Blake Snell.
He is most likely going to win the NL Cy Young award and he is also set to hit free agency.
Bringing back Snell will be crucial if the Padres are serious about contending in 2024.
