Before running into the Houston Astros in the American League Championship Series, the Texas Rangers hadn’t lost a single game in the postseason.
They swept the 99-win Tampa Bay Rays in the Wild Card round (both games were on the road, at Tropicana Field) and then proceeded to do the same with the AL East champions, the Baltimore Orioles.
Two of the games against the O’s were at Camden Yards.
Immediately after the Orioles series, the Rangers took the first two games of the ALCS in Houston.
Shockingly, they lost their three home games and went back to H-Town down 3-2 in the series.
But they were able to silence the Astros bats and dominate them in Games 6 and 7 to punch their ticket to the Fall Classic.
That has been the Rangers’ story this postseason: iffy play at home, unbeatable on the road.

The team itself made a Twitter post highlighting their “road warriors” moniker and each of the eight victories away from home.
Their 8-0 record has tied the 1996 New York Yankees for the longest streak of road wins to start a postseason.
We won’t know for a while if they will be able to extend their streak and take sole possession of the record: the World Series starts on Friday, but the first two games will be played in Arlington, at Globe Life Field.
Games 3 through 5 (if necessary) will be held at Chase Field, in Arizona, and that’s when these road warriors will get a crack at the new record.
It’s certainly an odd way to succeed, but it’s success nonetheless and it counts the same.
