A few months after signing a lucrative contract to remain with the New York Giants, quarterback Daniel Jones hasn’t been having the 2023 season that he or the team were hoping for.
Jones has missed the Giants’ last two games with a neck injury, but even when he was on the field, he experienced a significant amount of struggles.
As their starting quarterback, most would assume New York would like to have Jones back on the field sooner rather than later, but it sounds like the recovery from his injury isn’t something that can be rushed.
According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero on Sunday, Jones’ injury has actually resulted in the quarterback losing a “significant” amount of strength in his left arm.
#Giants QB Daniel Jones’ neck injury caused significant lack of strength in his left arm. The strength is coming back, and the injury isn’t season-ending. But it needs to fully heal to avoid increased risk of reinjury.

If a neck injury is causing problems with other parts of the quarterback’s body, then yes, this is certainly something New York needs to let fully heal, regardless of how long it keeps him off of the field.
Luckily for the Giants, they have a more than suitable replacement in veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who has been in the NFL since 2011.
With Taylor in the starting lineup during their last two games, New York has been able to accumulate over 300 total yards of offense in each contest, something they were only able to do once in the five starts that Jones made earlier this season.
In Week 8, Taylor and the Giants will have an opportunity to improve their record to 3-5 when they take on the New York Jets in a cross-city rivalry matchup that will take place in MetLife Stadium.
