Clubhouse dynamics can deliver some really funny moments in MLB.
Imagine 25+ players plus coaches, the manager, and whoever is around living their lives in the clubhouse or the dugout.
Jokes, friendships, some players teasing others, everybody having a good time… when people spend so much time around each other, conversations will inevitably occur and relationships will develop.
Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz, however, had some real trouble learning and remembering Dustin Pedroia’s name even though they played together for nine seasons.
It’s actually one of the most hilarious stories you will ever hear.
“Big Papi spent 9 seasons playing with Dustin Pedroia and never learned his real name. The crew’s reactions are priceless,” MLB on FOX tweeted, with a video of Pedroia and Ortiz reminiscing the exact moment in which the latter learned Pedroia’s name.

Ortiz really assumed Pedroia was named “Peewee” and actually realized that wasn’t the case when somebody else called him “Dustin,” which is, by the way, his real name.
Pedroia’s reaction was priceless, and Ortiz’s smile remembering the whole story is a moment we, as fans, won’t forget.
Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez couldn’t help but laugh at the story, as you probably will when you watch the video.
Ortiz and Pedroia are both Red Sox legends and went on to win two World Series together: in 2007 and in 2013.
Pedroia wasn’t around in 2004 when the Red Sox won it all, but Ortiz was; and Ortiz was already retired when Boston took home the 2018 World Series.
Pedroia was on the disabled list all year, but received a ring.
