The New York Jets didn’t bolster their suspect offensive line during the trade deadline, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to look the same.
Veteran star Duane Brown will reportedly practice on Thursday, meaning he could be activated from the Injured Reserve (IR) list in time for Monday night’s clash vs. the Los Angeles Chargers.
Needless to say, Brown would be back to his usual left tackle spot, meaning Mekhi Brown would have to make the transition — again — to right tackle.
When asked about that, the Louisville product was brutally honest, stating that he missed almost two years of football, so all he wants to do is play, regardless of the position (via Harrison Glaser).
Mekhi Becton on the possibility of going back to right tackle when Duane Brown returns:
“I gotta put extra work in, get back to the muscle memory of being on the other side. I just want to play football. I didn’t play football in two years, so I really don’t give a damn where… pic.twitter.com/x2eflq5Thk

Becton did admit that he’ll have to work on his muscular memory to get used to playing on the other side again, but he didn’t seem bothered or concerned about that at all.
He was taken in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft to serve as their left tackle for the future, but multiple injuries forced the team to change their plans.
HC Robert Saleh also confirmed that he wants his best linemen on the field at all times, so he’s going to find a way to pull that off.
Brown’s return could do wonders for a playoff-hopeful Jets team that has struggled mightily to give Zach Wilson any sort of protection.
The Jets are 4-3 and looking to stay in the mix in the AFC East Division, and it’ll take a team effort to reach the promised land.
