The final results of the 2023 MLB World Series might not look like it, but the matchup was actually close.
Yes, the Texas Rangers won 4-1 and took home their first World Series title against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but the latter were two outs away from winning Game 1 until Corey Seager tied things up with a two-run homer in the ninth.
Games 3 and 5, both Rangers victories, were also very close and were decided in the late innings.
The composite line score had the Rangers scoring 26 runs and the D-Backs with 22.
Things were closer than they appear, suggesting almost every game was thrilling and highly entertaining, even if ratings weren’t the best.
MLB Network published a video reminiscing the best moments of the Fall Classic.
“Congratulations to World Series champion @Rangers! A look back at the thrilling 2023 Fall Classic and its path to crowning a first-time winner,” they tweeted.

The video contains moments from Game 1 to Game 5, plus the Rangers’ celebration after Josh Sborz froze Ketel Marte with a strike-three breaking ball to finish the series.
Game 1 was probably the best of the series, with the D-Backs doing enough to reach the ninth frame up, 5-3.
Closer Paul Sewald, however, couldn’t help but look up to the sky and see how the ball hit by Seager disappeared into the night.
Seager screaming right after making contact is one of the most iconic pictures the World Series left us with.
Merrill Kelly had a pitching masterclass for Arizona in Game 2, but things started going downhill for them after that game.
Max Scherzer and Jon Gray combined to give the Rangers six scoreless frames in Game 3, Andrew Heaney had a marvelous outing in Game 4, and Nathan Eovaldi danced around danger to put up several straight zeroes, match Zac Gallen, and give the Rangers offense a chance.
Marcus Semien’s late homer in Game 5 was the cherry on top.
It was exciting to watch, and the Rangers certainly deserve all the credit for their first World Series victory.
