The Pittsburgh Steelers have more than one future Hall of Famer in their ranks, and more specifically, on their defense.
Of course, everybody rushes to talk about T.J. Watt, and rightfully so, as he’s the best defensive player on the planet right now, but he’s by no means their only star pass rusher right now.
That’s why defensive captain Cam Heyward wanted to make it loud and clear that Alex Highsmith isn’t the Robin to T.J.’s Batman or a sidekick of any sort.
Instead, he believes he’s Superman (via Peter Schrager).
“He’s not a sidekick. People say he’s the Robin to TJ’s Batman. But that’s not right. He’s a Superman.” — @CamHeyward on @steelers LB Alex Highsmith on @GMFB this AM.

That’s a fair assessment, and it seems like the Steelers are putting together a team of superheroes on the defensive side of the field.
Highsmith doesn’t get half of the attention and praise he deserves, mostly because of the fact that he shares the field with Watt.
Still, he finished Thursday night’s clash with the Tennessee Titans with 11 pressures, five quarterback hits, and two sacks.
He’s got 4.5 sacks for the season, which is obviously far from the whopping 14.5 he had in his breakout campaign last season, but he’s still been an elite pass rusher and a defensive force for Mike Tomlin’s team.
Highsmith has continued to improve since entering the league as a third-round pick in 2020, and his tandem next to Watt should already be considered top-3 in the game.
It’s time people finally start paying attention and realizing that Highsmith’s presence also allows Watt to be at his best, and if he’s a sidekick, then he might be the best sidekick in the league right now.
