Los Angeles Dodgers star Clayton Kershaw is scheduled to become a free agent in the upcoming days.
His one-year deal is coming to an end.
After another good season was cut short by injuries, he made an important announcement.
“Clayton Kershaw announced that he underwent a procedure in his left shoulder and is ‘hopeful to return to play at some point next summer,’ Talkin’ Baseball tweeted.

In an Instagram post, Kershaw detailed that the procedure was to repair the gleno-humeral ligaments and capsule of his left shoulder.
Sounds complicated, and considering he is already talking about a potential return next summer, it certainly was.
This tells us something, though: he intends to keep pitching and retirement is still not in the cards.
The fact he is willing to fight his way through a serious shoulder injury and return is huge.
The fact he is getting surgery after all the issues he had with his shoulder this year is not that shocking.
What’s shocking is the fact he was able to post a brilliant 2.46 ERA in 131.2 frames (with 137 strikeouts) even while pitching hurt.
Kershaw is 35, and will be 36 when next season rolls around.
At this point, if we had to bet his next team and the options were the Dodgers or the field, we would take the Dodgers.
It’s just hard to envision him with a different uniform.
However, LA has many issues on the pitching side and might not be able to wait on Kershaw.
Both sides are likely to reach a deal eventually, and the baseball world hopes to see Kershaw back in June or July.
