Las Vegas Raiders fans took to social media with tears of joy when the news of Josh McDaniels’ firing broke.
The former offensive coordinator wasn’t the most popular or beloved figure around the fanbase, and it seems like that was the case in the locker room as well.
Superstar WR Davante Adams had already taken some shots at the offense, and he looked ecstatic to know that Antonio Pierce would take the reins going forward.
The same goes for Hunter Renfrow, who stated that he’ll no longer have to be “walking on eggshells” and will finally be able to enjoy being out there and playing again (via Dov Kleiman).
#Raiders WR Hunter Renfrow on the changes in coaches away from Josh McDaniels: “No more walking on eggshells”
“Just have fun playing football again and not just walk on eggshells everywhere. Just go out there and enjoy playing like we’re kids.”

While he didn’t get into any specifics, it’s hard to be any clearer than that.
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as Renfrow has seen his role diminish vastly this season.
Renfrow was the team’s best pass-catcher in 2021, logging 103 receptions.
But he’s taken a major step back since McDaniels arrived in Sin City, and with all the injuries he dealt with last season, it was tough for him to establish himself as a steady contributor.
To date, he’s got just ten receptions for 92 yards in eight contests, falling behind in the pecking order in Mick Lombardi’s stagnant and inefficient offense.
Renfrow has already proved what he’s capable of, and there’s some hope he can finally bounce back and be a productive member of the offense again with McDaniels gone.
Certainly, it’s not like he can play any less.
