The New York Jets and their fans were filled with tons of excitement this summer after the team had traded for future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The trade gave them their first big-name QB in what seemed like forever to go with a very promising team on both sides of the football.
But Rodgers tore his Achilles on the Jets’ first offensive series of the year, and all that excitement was thrown into the Hudson River along with the team’s Super Bowl hopes.
It was presumed Rodgers would miss the rest of this season and possibly part of next season, but per JPAFootball, he posted a cryptic Instagram story that hinted he may try to return sometime this season.

Normally, returning from a torn Achilles takes about a calendar year, as the technology in the surgery and rehab for such an injury has only come so far.
If Rodgers does return toward the end of this season, it would seemingly mock that timeline.
Whenever he does return, a huge question is how well he will be able to play, given that he is nearing his 40th birthday.
The conventional wisdom is that once an athlete comes back from a torn Achilles, he isn’t quite the same player he was previously.
If there is any hope Rodgers will be at least close to the same player he was in the recent past, perhaps one could look at NBA superstar Kevin Durant, who tore his Achilles in 2019 and has still been an elite player to this day.
Somehow, without Rodgers, the Jets have forged a 4-3 record, but make no mistake — they need a high-quality signal-caller to do anything of note when it matters most.
