The Buffalo Bills made a big-time addition when they signed Leonard Fournette to their practice squad.
Fournette was let go by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and failed to reach a deal with any team in the offseason.
However, contrary to popular belief, it wasn’t because there was no interest in his services.
Recently, the former Jacksonville Jaguars star revealed that he took some time picking his next destination, adding that he chose the Bills because he thought they gave him the best opportunity to be a prominent piece on a championship team:
“I had a couple teams reach out to me. But I really wanted to do what’s best for me, a fresh start out here in Buffalo,” Fournette said. “I have a lot left in the tank to play, it was all about the right opportunity.”

Fournette gives the BIlls a much-needed boost behind starter James Cook.
He’s good in pass protection, and is an upgrade as a change-of-pace, goal-line, and third-down back over veteran Latavius Murray, who has struggled to do any sort of damage between the tackles.
The Bills have yet to elevate him from the practice squad, but they could look to have him on the field on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, although that seems unlikely.
Fournette looks to be healthy and in the best shape of his career, but he’s been away from the game for quite a while, and it might take some time before he gets his legs back under him.
Still, the team will only need him to be at his best for the playoffs, so they could take things slowly with him and spoon-feed him while he gets a hold of his new offense and works his way up their depth chart:
