The Miami Dolphins have seemingly lost some of their luster more than halfway through the 2023 NFL season as they dropped their Week 9 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Dolphins couldn’t find the normal open areas they’re accustomed to seeing on the field as the Chiefs defense did an excellent job in coverage.
Kansas City’s defensive line also did well to corral Tua Tagovailoa and keep him from making many throws downfield.
Miami’s been lauded all season for having some of the fastest skill position players in the league, but that speed has limitations when the quarterback isn’t feeling comfortable in the pocket.
Head coach Mike McDaniel uses his running game to set up the passing attack, and both Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. weren’t able to find many gaps to run through.
However, the running back room is getting reinforcements soon as rookie De’Von Achane appears set to return from injured reserve via Dov Kleiman of BroBible.com
“No setbacks,” McDaniel said.
Update: #Dolphins rookie RB De’Von Achane could possibly return from his injury on Week 11 against the #Raiders after Miami’s Bye week.

Achane broke out early on in the season and showed how explosive he can be after making several highlight-reel-worthy touchdowns.
The running back is adept on the ground, but is also a solid pass catcher that can do some serious damage once he has the ball in his hands.
If Achane is able to return in Week 11, McDaniel’s offense should go back to humming the way it was just a few weeks ago.
Although his small stature prevents him from being a workhorse, Achane definitely adds a different dimension to the Dolphins’ backfield.
