The New York Jets were playing their best football of the season before Monday night’s reality check.
Winners of three straight, Robert Saleh’s team kept climbing its way up the AFC East Division and dreaming about the playoffs.
Once again, Zach Wilson’s performance was the topic of discussion, with Saleh ‘pleading the fifth’ when asked about benching his quarterback.
Wilson has been through everything bad in his first two and a half campaigns in the league: Injuries, subpar performances, a bad offensive line, benchings, and even getting booed off the field.
That’s why the former No. 2 pick believes that having faced all that adversity and all those obstacles will actually help him bounce back after such a tough loss (via ProFootballTalk)-
“Absolutely, I absolutely think it does, Wilson said. “It’s a great point, because it’s been tough, it’s been challenging, and we just have to keep going. Very optimistic, I am, about what we have as an offense, and I know every week we’re right there, we’re close, and eventually we have to turn the page, but I still feel that way, and I’m excited for this next week, the next challenge, and yeah, like you said, just fighting through it and learning.”

Wilson has failed to live up to the hype and the expectations that come with being a former No. 2 pick.
At this point, the Jets don’t even need him to be a star, nor do they need it.
They just need him to play mistake-free football and execute in the final third of the field, which has been the team’s major issue throughout the course of the season.
It’s evident that even when Aaron Rodgers comes back next season, the Jets will need to pivot and find their QB of the future somewhere else.
Wilson might have another opportunity to thrive and develop and could even have a somewhat decent career in the league.
It’s just not likely to happen with this organization, not after all they’ve been through.
