With three straight losses heading into their bye week, no title-contending team in the NFL needed a break more than the San Francisco 49ers, who were once considered to be the best all-around team in the league this season.
One of the main reasons for the team’s struggles before the bye week was all the injuries that were piling up, especially with players on the offensive side of the football like Trent Williams, Christian McCaffrey, and Deebo Samuel.
When all three of these star players are healthy, the 49ers are as tough to beat as any team in the league, as they can put up points and can put the clamps on defensively with Nick Bosa leading the way.
Fortunately for the 49ers, the team is starting to get healthy at the right time, with McCaffrey back and Samuel on track to return to the field for this week’s matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road.
Star quarterback Brock Purdy recently talked about the imminent return of Samuel and potentially Williams for this week’s game against the Jaguars, via 49ers on NBCS.
“You get the ball into Deebo’s hands and he can do some crazy stuff.”

With Williams, Purdy gets elite protection up front, and with Samuel, he’ll have arguably one of his best offensive weapons at his disposal, which will help open up the entire offense with McCaffrey, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle all standing to benefit.
It’ll be interesting to see if the 49ers can put it back together on Sunday in order to stop the bleeding and get back to being a legitimate contender in the NFC.
