After winning their first five games of the 2023 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers were widely considered to be the best all-around team in the league, with quarterback Brock Purdy proving that last season’s success was no fluke.
Unfortunately, that’s right when the injuries started piling up for the 49ers, especially on the offensive side of the football, which hurt the team’s ability to be competitive week in and week out.
With stars Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel on the mend, as well as left tackle Trent Williams, the 49ers started to struggle with Purdy under siege, resulting in three straight losses for the storied franchise before heading into their bye week.
Fortunately for Purdy and company, the bye week couldn’t have come at a better time, and the team’s star quarterback made good use of that time while being able to recharge and get ready for the rest of the season, via 49ers on NBCS.

The 49ers have a few tough games left on the schedule moving forward, starting with the matchup on the road against Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Fortunately for San Francisco, Samuel appears to be trending in the right direction in terms of being able to come back from injury sooner rather than later, as he’s on track to play in this game against the Jaguars.
That’s a great sign for Purdy and company, as they need his production more than ever as they attempt to end their losing streak and get back to their winning ways.
