After being out for nearly a year due to a torn ACL, quarterback Kyler Murray returned to game action on Sunday for the Arizona Cardinals.
While he wasn’t exactly dazzling against the Atlanta Falcons, he converted a decent 19 of 32 passes and was able to direct the game-winning drive that ended with a field goal by Matt Prater.
The 25-23 victory was only Arizona’s second of the season, and thus it appears the team is still very much in the draft sweepstakes for Caleb Williams.
However, former NFL QB Brett Hundley says Murray is still the Cardinals’ franchise QB, per NFL on CBS.

Murray has never really been accused of being an elite signal-caller ever since he was the No. 1 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, but he did make the Pro Bowl in his last two full seasons in 2020 and 2021.
In 2021, he directed his team to a 7-0 start and an 11-6 finish as they made the playoffs.
At age 26, Murray should still have plenty left in the tank as long as he doesn’t lose any real quickness or mobility following ACL surgery.
That quickness has been one of his greatest traits, as he has been one of the league’s better dual-threat quarterbacks.
On Sunday, he ran for 33 yards on six attempts and scored a touchdown on the ground near the end of the second quarter to bring Arizona to within two points of the Falcons.
This coming Sunday, they will visit the surging Houston Texans, which means a showdown between Murray and rookie QB C.J. Stroud.
