Russell Wilson’s first season with the Denver Broncos did not provide the type of impact the team had hoped.
After a 5-12 record and one of the worst statistical seasons of his career, Wilson faced significant critique during the offseason.
Many wondered if he could ever be an elite quarterback again after the 2022 campaign.
While the 2023 season has been rocky at times, things have looked significantly better for Wilson’s Broncos.
Reporter Zac Stevens recently called out Wilson’s improved play this year, noting he already has more passing touchdowns through nine games than he did during the entire 2022 season.
Through nine games, Russell Wilson already has more passing TDs this year (18) than his did all of last year (16).
Russ also already has the same number of wins this year (4) that he had all of last year (4).

Wilson has thrown 18 touchdown passes this season, which has resulted in a 4-5 record.
The Broncos went 5-12 last year, and if he can keep up the current trends, the team is slated to greatly outpace that.
These upward trends are great news for Broncos fans, who had voiced significant disappointment in their new quarterback to this point.
After all, the team made a significant investment in him, which hadn’t yielded positive results at first.
It seems that he and Sean Payton have gotten into a groove after a few weeks of figuring things out.
Payton has helped facilitate the offense in a way that is palpable for Wilson, which has been a large factor in their success.
Wilson has looked closer to an MVP candidate than he did in the first few games of the year, a sign that things are going better for this team.
Can he keep this momentum going throughout the back half of the season and fight for a playoff spot?
