The weeks go by, and the New York Jets continue to talk about Aaron Rodgers’ unprecedented early comeback.
HC Robert Saleh made it loud and clear that he’s going to give his quarterback a chance to play if he’s medically cleared before the end of the season, and Rodgers has strived for that for months now.
Nonetheless, there’s also a big factor into play, which is that the Jets might not be in playoff contention by the time Rodgers is medically cleared to play, thus making it unnecessary for him to come back.
However, sports analyst Nick Wright doesn’t agree with that approach.
In the latest edition of First Things First, Wright explained that if Rodgers’ goal is to win a Super Bowl with the Jets at some point, then he should, by all means, look to get some reps with Garrett Wilson, the offensive line, and Nathaniel Hackett calling the plays.
Bad idea to rush Aaron Rodgers back?
“I find all of this somewhat unbelievable — I mean that literally and figuratively. But IF he’s cleared to play I don’t see why the Jets record should have any impact on it.” — @getnickwright pic.twitter.com/iRchZ9Xx2T

Wright believes this could be some prime preparation for next season, even if he’s not going to be able to lead them to a Super Bowl this season, which is why his team’s record shouldn’t be a determining factor for whether he comes back this season or not.
That’s a valid point, and it does make some sense.
Then again, we’re talking about a 40-year-old coming off a career-altering injury right in the middle of the winter.
Perhaps that’s not the kind of risk he’s willing to take at this point in his career unless he knows it could lead the team to the ultimate prize.
