The Oakland Athletics, specifically their owner John Fisher, want to move to Las Vegas.
Fans in Oakland and all over the country have made it very clear that they are against the move, but the owner hasn’t been moved by their drive so far and probably never will if facts are any indication.
To keep the project going, however, Fisher needed the approval of 75 percent of his fellow owners: 23 votes in total.
During the owner meetings this week, they gathered and decided, unanimously, that the A’s should move forward with their relocation plan.
“The Oakland Athletics have been unanimously approved by owners for relocation to Las Vegas, per source,” MLB insider Mark Feinsand tweeted.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that the move is official.
However, it is an important step towards Fisher’s plan coming to fruition.
His idea, and that of MLB, is for the move to be completed sometime in the next four or five years.
However, for that, they have to build a new stadium in the Las Vegas strip.
The plan to build the stadium is concrete, and Nevada lawmakers have approved $380 million in public stadium funding.
However, Fisher now has to secure private funding to build the venue, and complete several other steps before the move is complete.
Fans had sent MLB owners a box with the words “stay in Oakland” and some A’s memorabilia and items, hoping to change their mind on a future move.
Apparently, it didn’t work, as the 29 remaining owners approved Fisher’s plan for relocation.
The A’s have been in Oakland for decades and have won multiple World Series championships, building a loyal fanbase full of memories.
It looks like that’s all that Fisher will leave them.
