NFL press conferences can tell fans a lot about a player or coach.
They are an opportunity for reporters to ask questions candidly, hoping to get down to the bottom of a particular play or scheme throughout a game.
Brandon Staley seemed to be frustrated after the Los Angeles Chargers’ loss to the Green Bay Packers.
He took this out on the reporters, especially for the reporter who asked him if he would still call their defensive plays.
In response to this, Staley said, “You can stop asking that question,” an indication of how exasperated he was.
A frustrated Brandon Staley on if he’ll continue to call the #Chargers defense:
“You can stop asking that question. I’m going to be calling the defenses, okay? So we’re clear? So you don’t have to ask that again.”pic.twitter.com/6E2ySnEIrk

He wants to keep calling the Chargers’ plays on defense despite their lackluster performances lately.
They have lost back-to-back games that were winnable, but their defense ultimately gave up too many points in crucial moments.
With all of this in mind, fans had a field day on Twitter, mainly to poke fun at Staley and his approach to the podium.
He’s going to be calling defenses on madden soon instead if he keeps acting this way

Intimidating in press conferences, not so much on defense.

Should have asked him if he’ll continue to be the head coach next year

He’s ruining Justin Herbert’s prime. Hes gone

Judging by these fan responses, it is clear that Staley isn’t among the league’s most well-liked head coaches.
Fans do not seem happy that he will keep calling the defensive plays, especially knowing the results Staley has put forward this season.
The Chargers’ defense allows 23.8 points per game, a bottom-ten metric in the NFL.
With this in mind, something will have to change for the Chargers’ defense to make any marked improvements.
Whether that is switching play-callers, giving younger players an opportunity to see the field, or a combination of the two, if something doesn’t happen quickly, Staley could be out the door in the offseason.
