The Detroit Lions officially have one of the best records in the NFC.
If the Philadelphia Eagles lose in primetime to the Kansas City Chiefs, these two teams will be tied for the best record in the conference.
Regardless of the Lions’ standing within the NFC, their record is impressive when looking at their recent history.
As Ari Meirov points out, this is the first time the Lions have had an 8-2 record since the 1960s.

This team has been one of the NFL’s worst for over 60 years but seems to be on the right track this year.
Dan Campbell has instituted a cultural shift in this organization.
His players are fully bought in, which is a big reason for their success this season.
One of the biggest downfalls for the Lions in 2022 was their defense, which was one of the league’s worst in regards to points allowed per game.
While they are by no means a top-five unit at this time, Campbell and his team made several defensive adjustments coming into the season, which have greatly helped their cause.
For a team that was a bottom-feeder in the NFL, the Lions have turned things around for the better.
They are poised to win the NFC North for the first time in franchise history, a definite step in the right direction.
The next step for the Lions will be to win a playoff game, something they have not done since 1992.
Only time will tell whether this team can stack up with the NFC’s elites when it comes time for the playoffs.
