The Pittsburgh Steelers entered the 2023 Season with lofty expectations.
Kenny Pickett ended the 2022 campaign on a hot streak, which many believed would continue into the new year.
While the optimism was strong on Pickett heading into the year, his performance has left something to be desired.
This was outlined by analyst Geoff Schwartz, who recently tweeted his disappointment regarding Pickett’s subpar play.
I was very wrong about Pickett’s success this season. I thought we’d see a year two jump. Has not happened https://t.co/cX9MZseXS6

He hoped Pickett could continue his momentum from last season, which has not been the case.
Pickett has thrown for 1,722 yards on the season, adding just six touchdowns and four interceptions to his total.
He is the 25th-best quarterback in the league in terms of passing yards, which is less than the likes of Josh Dobbs, Mac Jones, Zach Wilson, and Desmond Ridder.
Despite Pickett’s shortcomings as a passer, the Steelers have still found ways to win this season.
He has been largely carried by a strong defense and the two-headed rushing attack of Jaylen Warren and Najee Harris.
Schwartz isn’t the only analyst to express concern over Pickett and his role in this offense.
This is a growing concern by many, including well-respected analysts and longtime Steelers fans.
Hopefully, Pickett can turn things around quickly, resulting in better individual statistics throughout the rest of the season.
Otherwise, his job could be on the line, especially if the Steelers miss the playoffs.
Their next three opponents are the Cincinnati Bengals, Arizona Cardinals, and New England Patriots.
These three struggling opponents could be what the doctor ordered to help him get back on track.
