A big part of building a winning franchise in MLB is hiring the right coaches.
The front office might have lots of ideas and specific approaches to certain processes, but the team needs talented coaches who understand these things and are able to communicate them to the players.
A good coach knows a lot about his craft but is also a very good communicator and willing to get the message along.
That’s why elite teams are always on the lookout for the best coaches.
The Boston Red Sox made a fantastic hire on Tuesday.
“Official: Red Sox hire Andrew Bailey as their major league pitching coach,” MLB insider Jon Morosi tweeted.

This has been in the works for several days, but it’s official now.
Bailey was a successful MLB pitcher in the 2010s.
He made his debut in 2009 and retired in 2017 with 95 saves and a 3.12 ERA.
Those are very solid numbers.
While many players choose to retire and rest, Bailey kept himself active.
In 2018, he was the instant replay coordinator and coaching assistant for the Los Angeles Angels.
He then spent the 2019 season as their bullpen coach.
He took a giant step in his career before the 2020 campaign, accepting a job as the San Francisco Giants pitching coach.
He helped transform their pitching staff and was instrumental in the Giants’ elite 2021 run, in which they won 107 games and held off the Los Angeles Dodgers for the division title in the NL West.
Now, after his successful stint with the Giants, he has a new challenge ahead: help turn the Red Sox into true contenders again.
