Not so long ago, people questioned the Philadelphia Eagles’ decision to stick with Jalen Hurts as their starting quarterback.
Fast forward to today, and he’s not only one of the highest-paid players at the position but also the team’s undisputed leader and best player.
That’s why, even though he’s not much of a fan of him or his team, Skip Bayless had no choice but to tip his hat to Hurts.
In the latest edition of “Undisputed,” Bayless talked about Hurts being “an old soul” and a strong leader, praising his leadership for the way he’s always been able to rise up to the occasion and make the plays his team needs when it needs them, even if his overall numbers aren’t that impressive.

“It’s in my blood to hate the Eagles, but I love Jalen Hurts. He leads this league in leadership. He’s the heart and soul of that team.” pic.twitter.com/vmwiWQPYzZ

With that in mind, the often controversial pundit gave Hurts the nod as the leading MVP candidate, and it wouldn’t be shocking at all.
The Eagles have only lost one game this season, and while Hurts hasn’t been as good as he was last year, he’s the best player on the best team in the league, and the MVP has usually been a QB award.
Whether Hurts is the best quarterback in the league or not, chances are that most people will agree that he’s not.
But he should still be considered a tier-two quarterback in today’s game, and his ability to take a leap forward when his team is in need of a big play is special and separates him from the rest of the pack more often than not.
