The New York Jets won’t have their starting quarterback on the field this Friday… Or even his backup.
Robert Saleh finally said enough is enough and pulled Zach Wilson off the field last week, replacing him with perennial backup Tim Boyle.
Boyle doesn’t come with a lot of experience at either the collegiate or professional level and his numbers, albeit on a limited sample size, are far from impressive.
That’s why NFL analyst and bona fide Jets fan Craig Carton stated that the season is all but over now.
In the latest edition of his show, Carton even blamed Aaron Rodgers for the early end of the season, stating that he was the de facto general manager who brought in all the receivers who couldn’t catch and players who could not play.
“Tim Boyle is the Jets starting quarterback against the Miami Dolphins. The season’s over. It’s a wrap, kid, and Aaron Rodgers is responsible.”

Of course, Carton always gives a funny twist to his takes, and chances are he doesn’t actually believe Rodgers is to blame for the Jets’ shortcomings.
Even so, he did stand up for Saleh, stating that he shouldn’t be on the hot seat or blamed for having that kind of offensive talent on their roster.
Truth be told, if someone needs to take the blame, it should be the front office for refusing to pursue a veteran backup QB as soon as Rodgers fell with an injury.
Even if they thought Wilson should’ve gotten a chance, it became evident that he wasn’t the answer to their prayers after just a couple of weeks, and they failed to address that.
