With the 2023 NFL season coming down to the final stretch, there are some limited opportunities for some of the best teams in the league to improve their rosters ahead of the NFL playoffs, with star players getting released for one reason or another.
Earlier this week, one of those potential game-changing players for a contender or playoff team officially became available, with the Indianapolis Colts choosing to part ways with three-time All-Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard.
With a talent of Leonard’s caliber becoming available in the second half of the 2023 campaign, teams around the league looking to bolster their defense ahead of the postseason will likely jump on the opportunity to bring him in.
Initially, there was some buzz that Leonard might get his contract picked up off of waivers because of his game-changing talent, but that didn’t turn out to be the case, as he is now officially a free agent and able to sign with any team he wants.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, two playoff-bound squads in the NFC might show some interest in adding Leonard to their squad, with the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys possibly looking at bringing him in.

Leonard would be an ideal addition for either team, as both of these NFC heavyweights have Super Bowl aspirations and will be doing everything within their power to top the other in the season’s final stretch.
The Cowboys adding Leonard makes a dominant defense that much better while taking some of the pressure off Micah Parsons, but the Eagles signing Leonard might be the best move because it will help their defense, which is in need of a boost moving forward.
