Last week, the Green Bay Packers showed some signs of life, with the storied franchise being able to get the best of Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers keeping their slim chances of clinching a playoff spot alive.
After getting the team’s fourth win of the 2023 NFL season, the Packers have had a short week to prepare for the Thanksgiving Day clash against the division-rival and first-place Detroit Lions.
This game will arguably be the game of the year for the Packers as it could mark an end to a disappointing 2023 campaign or spark the beginning of a run at making the playoffs, as a win over Detroit would go far for a number of different reasons.
Unfortunately for the Packers, Green Bay will be heading into this NFC North showdown without one of their best offensive players on the field.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Packers will be without star running back Aaron Jones when they go head-to-head against Dan Campbell’s squad on Thursday.

This has not been a memorable year for Jones, as it could be argued that AJ Dillon is now the lead back for the Packers moving forward or he’s at least making a strong case to become the top back for Green Bay.
Jones has played in only seven games thus far for the Packers this season, rushing for 245 yards and two touchdowns on 66 carries while adding 169 receiving yards and a touchdown on 30 receptions.
Even though Jones’ presence will be missed, Dillon can shoulder the load, but it likely won’t be enough to get the best of the Lions on Thursday.
