It’s been a rollercoaster of a 2023 NFL season for the New York Jets, as the regular season started off with Aaron Rodgers tearing his Achilles.
The Jets managed to still somehow beat the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, but the team was forced to turn to Zach Wilson as their starter and the former No. 2 overall pick did almost nothing to prove that he was the man for the job.
There was a stretch where New York won three consecutive games with Wilson under center, but since then it’s been a disaster as he’s reverted back to the quarterback that resembles a bust.
After a dispiriting loss to the Bills in Week 11, head coach Robert Saleh decided to finally bench Wilson for backup Tim Boyle.
Boyle hasn’t fared any better as he is just as mistake-prone as Wilson is with the football.
In the Jets’ Week 12 loss to the Miami Dolphins, Boyle got picked off at the end of the first half and it got returned for a touchdown, and Rich Eisen had some fun with the play via his personal Twitter account.
I can not believe what I just saw.

It’s a hilarious comment from Eisen, though it speaks to just how dire things are in New York at the quarterback position.
The Jets front office should be kicking themselves for not having a better backup plan in place in the event Rodgers got hurt.
At his age, Rodgers is much more prone to getting hurt and the franchise should’ve protected themselves in the event that he missed time.
