Omarion Hampton Shines Bright at the NFL Scouting Combine
The rift between the Buffalo Bills and James Cook continues to widen, with the Pro Bowl running back making subtle remarks about his limited usage in crucial moments during the AFC championship game. This lack of three-down involvement ultimately played a role in the Bills falling short of their Super Bowl aspirations. While tensions have not reached a boiling point yet, Buffalo must consider alternative options moving forward.
Fortunately, the upcoming draft class boasts a wealth of talent at the running back position, with several prospects showcasing their skills at the NFL Scouting Combine. One standout performer was Omarion Hampton from North Carolina. Standing at an impressive 6 feet tall and weighing 220 pounds, Hampton displayed remarkable athleticism throughout the event. His impressive 4.46 time in the 40-yard dash was particularly noteworthy for a back of his size. Additionally, he excelled in the 10-yard split (1.54), vertical jump (38 feet), and broad jump (10-foot-10).
Hampton’s stellar performance at the combine was a reflection of his consistent production for the Tar Heels over the past two seasons. In the 2024 season, he delivered his best performance to date, amassing 2,033 yards from scrimmage and scoring a total of 17 touchdowns. Notably, Hampton achieved an impressive RAS Score of 9.93 out of 10.00, ranking 14th out of 1909 running backs from 1987 to present. His strong showing at the combine solidified his status as a legitimate prospect for NFL teams in need of backfield talent.
