Ever since he was forced to take over the San Francisco 49ers‘ starting quarterback role in Week 13 of last season, Brock Purdy has been impressive.
At first, some felt his play was a novelty, but he is leading the NFL in passer rating, yards per pass attempt, yards per pass completion, and completion percentage, and he has guided the 49ers to an 8-3 record.
Although Purdy is only in his first full season of actual playing time, the 23-year-old has impressed his teammates.
Star tight end George Kittle talked about Purdy’s leadership and the impact he has made while on “The Jim Rome Show.”

Just over a year ago, Purdy had been the last player chosen in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he started last season third on the 49ers’ depth chart, making him virtually an afterthought.
But Trey Lance, the team’s original starter, suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 2, and Jimmy Garoppolo, Lance’s backup, went down with a season-ending injury of his own in Week 13.
Purdy then took over and extended San Francisco’s winning streak to 12 games while giving them added dimensions to their offense they never really had with either Lance or Garoppolo.
That winning streak lasted until the NFC Championship Game when Purdy tore the UCL in his throwing elbow versus the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 49ers will visit the Eagles this Sunday, which will give Purdy another chance to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is truly an elite QB and not just a “system QB.”
