The Washington Commanders were the talk of the 2023 NFL offseason.
There was a lot of controversy surrounding Dan Snyder and the Commanders’ previous ownership group, which ended with their offseason sale.
The Harris Group has now taken over, left to work with the remains of the team and coaching staff Snyder had built.
There has been speculation about a potential coaching change, although Commanders reporter Neil Greenberg recently put it to bed.
According to Greenberg via JP Finlay, he believes the Harris Group does not want to make any in-season changes, which includes keeping Ron Rivera as head coach.
from @ngreenberg on Commanders: “If youre familiar w the Harris group you probably knew an in-season firing wasnt happening…I dont see anyway that Ron Rivera is still responsible for player decisions, I think youll see a new GM and theyll go from there.”

However, he does predict a new GM will come in and the team will “go from there.”
The Commanders are coming off a blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, the latest miscue in their 4-8 season.
While a season well below .500 might be a cause for concern for some organizations, that does not seem to be the case for the Commanders.
Depending on how the rest of the year plays out, they will likely re-evaluate every aspect of this organization, hoping to improve significantly for the 2024 campaign.
The NFC East remains a difficult division led by the Philadelphia Eagles and Cowboys.
For the Commanders to break through, they will need to make marked changes in the offseason to make that happen.
The potential impact of the Harris Group remains to be seen, but in their first offseason with control of the Commanders, they may look to make a significant splash.
Rivera’s job will likely be a talking point for the new ownership group along with several marquee positions, including quarterback.
