The New England Patriots appear to have a quarterback problem.
After spending the offseason telling the media that Mac Jones would be their answer at the position, the tides seem to be changing within the organization.
Jones was benched during the Patriots’ recent loss to the New York Giants, which foreshadowed a potential change.
As reporter Jeff Howe has announced, the Patriots seem to be lining up Bailey Zappe to start this week.
The Patriots are preparing QB Bailey Zappe to start Sunday against the Chargers, per sources. It should be his job this week if all goes as expected.

Jones was seen in a video at practice earlier in the week standing by as Zappe got reps with the first team.
Whether this is a permanent change remains to be seen, but the Patriots are trying something new, hoping it yields a different result.
With a current record of 2-9, it certainly cannot hurt.
The Patriots have struggled to find a replacement for Tom Brady since he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jones was initially considered their franchise star, but he has looked anything but so far.
Unless the team turns around in the back half of the season, the Patriots will likely look to draft a quarterback from the upcoming class.
It is said to be a strong year for quarterback, and with any luck, this team can find a new leader, hoping to bring them back to their previously found playoff success.
Zappe played well in relief of Jones last season, which was an exciting change among the fanbase.
It will be interesting to see how the team moves forward in the position, especially in 2024.
