Coming into the 2023 NFL season, the Buffalo Bills were considered one of the best all-around teams in the AFC and a legitimate Super Bowl title contender, with superstar quarterback Josh Allen leading the way.
Unfortunately for Buffalo, things haven’t gone as planned for the AFC heavyweights, with the team sitting at .500 at 6-6 with five games left in the regular season after the team fell to the NFC-leading Philadelphia Eagles in last week’s thrilling game that went into overtime.
With four losses in the last six games, there’s been a lot of talk about whether head coach Sean McDermott is on the hot seat in Buffalo because it doesn’t appear that anything is changing despite the impressive performance against the Eagles.
According to Tim Graham of The Athletic, the Bills have no intention of firing McDermott once the 2023 NFL season comes to an end for the Bills, which could be sooner rather than later if things continue going the way they’re going, via Dov Kleiman.

Although McDermott appears to be safe as of right now, there’s still a lot of football left to be played, and if things get worse, that stance could quickly change, especially if there is a coaching candidate that attracts the Bills brass.
As of right now, the goal is to make the NFL playoffs and try to go the distance, even though things are definitely not in the team’s favor to do so moving forward.
A lot of the team’s success will continue to lean on Allen and whether he’s able to lead this team to some success in the postseason.
