The San Francisco 49ers’ season starts on Sunday.
Everything they’ve done this season could either pay off or be futile, depending on how they fare at Lincoln Financial Field.
Kyle Shanahan’s team has had their game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles marked on their calendars since the schedule was released, and there’s plenty of animosity ahead of this matchup.
Nonetheless, as much as players from both teams have talked about the impending game, QB Brock Purdy’s taking it as just another game.
When asked about it, the second-year pro acknowledged that as much as his injury from last season was obviously a big deal, he only thinks of this game as Week 13’s game (via Nick Wagoner and The Score).

The Niners felt great about themselves heading into that matchup, but losing Brock Purdy just a handful of plays into the game pretty much doomed their chances.
Purdy was already their third-string quarterback, so it’s not like they could’ve replaced him there, and the Eagles made the most of it to keep their foot on the gas and made a statement en route to a Super Bowl.
The Niners seem to believe that they could’ve gotten past them with a healthy Purdy, and they’ll have a chance to prove it now.
On top of that, San Francisco added more firepower to the defensive line with Chase Young.
The Eagles hold bragging rights with four wins in a row, and this will be the game of the week — and perhaps of the regular season.
