Every year, the NFL hands out awards based on merits throughout the season.
Sportswriters vote on these awards, and while they are highly-regarded accolades, they do not come from fellow NFL players.
When players are recognized by their peers or former players, it tends to go a long way.
This is why, when Wes Welker recently spoke about Tyreek Hill as a better player than Randy Moss, Hill took time in a press conference to discuss what that meant to him.
Hill was flattered when talking about this, saying, “I just got to accept the compliment, man. That’s awesome.”

To be discussed in the same breath as Moss is an incredible compliment.
Moss is widely viewed as one of the best receivers in league history, known for his combination of route running, speed, and overall athleticism.
Welker played with Moss on the New England Patriots and could see the kind of player he was.
Now that Welker is the Dolphins’ receiver coach, he can confidently say who is better, and he continues to give that nod to Hill.
While Welker might view Hill as a better player, he has a long way to go to catch Moss’ career statistics.
Moss finished his career with 15,292 receiving yards, and Hill has achieved 9,664 yards.
If he wants to make it to Moss’ level of career production, he will need to play in the league for a few more years to have a fighting chance.
When Hill’s career is said and done, will he be seen as one of the best receivers in league history?
