Coming into the 2023 NFL regular season, the AFC South seemed to be a one-team division, with only the Jacksonville Jaguars looked at as a legitimate force to be reckoned with.
After the dust settles on Week 13 in the 2023 campaign, the division will have three teams with winning records, and all of those teams are still very much in the playoff picture in the AFC.
The Jaguars are still the team to beat in the division, as all signs point to Trevor Lawrence and company winning the AFC South crown this season, but the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans have emerged as threats in the division and teams to watch moving forward.
Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud has singlehandedly made the Texans a relevant football team once again, as he appears to be the real deal, while the Colts have been able to hang around while counting on veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew to lead them to wins on a weekly basis.
Former NFL superstar J.J. Watt believes that the AFC South division isn’t getting the credit it deserves, as he believes the division is being slept on right now via NFL on CBS.

Ultimately, the Jaguars will likely come out on top as the team to win the division while the Colts and Texans battle it out for a chance to clinch a playoff spot, which will make the final stretch of the regular season that much more interesting in the AFC South, to say the least.
The Texans have a relatively easy schedule the rest of the way but will play the Colts twice before it is all said and done in the regular season.
