At this point in the NFL regular season, most of the individual awards are getting close to being wrapped up, with candidates for awards starting to separate themselves from the pack.
Unlike in years past, there are a lot of regular-season awards that don’t have clear-cut favorites, like NFL MVP, with plenty of players still in contention for the award with only a handful of games to be played.
However, NFL Coach of the Year might already have a clear winner for the 2023 NFL season, with DeMeco Ryans of the Houston Texans making a strong case for the award right now.
The Texans came into this season having made some bold moves in the 2023 NFL Draft in order to set up the franchise’s future, with the team bringing in rookies C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr.
Even though these were two solid additions for the Texans, Houston wasn’t expected to do much of anything this season, but Ryans already has this team on the right track while also getting the endorsement of Texans legend J.J. Watt.
DeMeco Ryans: Coach of the Year

After getting the best of the red-hot Denver Broncos in Week 13 in a close contest, the Texans have improved their record to 7-5 on the season and are very much alive in the playoff picture in the AFC.
Even though the Texans likely won’t be able to catch the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars for the division title, Stroud and company may be able to clinch a playoff spot and potentially make some noise in the postseason, with Ryans possibly winning NFL Coach of the Year.
