We have known the news for at least several days: the Milwaukee Brewers were in agreement with star prospect Jackson Chourio on an eight-year, $82 million contract extension with two additional club options.
Now, the deal is official: the Brewers and Chourio signed the papers and the team made the proper announcement on its social media channels and accounts.
“COMMITTED TO THE CREW: We have signed Jackson Chourio, baseball’s No. 2 prospect, to an eight-year contract through 2031 with club options for 2032 and 2033,” the team announced on its official Twitter account.

It’s a historic extension: Chourio is getting the largest money guarantee in MLB history for a player who hasn’t played a Major League game yet.
He is 19 years old and has just six games of experience above Double-A.
However, the Brewers and scouts/talent evaluators in the industry believe he will be a big star someday because he has all the tools.
Chourio has enough power to hit 20-30 home runs at peak during his career, and stole 43 bases in Double-A this past season.
He also plays a very solid center field and has more untapped potential.
In Double-A, he slashed a cool .280/.336/.467 with 22 home runs, 84 runs scored, and 89 RBI.
Then, he went to Triple-A for six games and hit .333 with a stolen base.
With the news of the extension, the MLB-ready Chourio will likely be the Brewers’ center fielder on Opening Day 2024.
The Brewers could save millions of dollars if Chourio reaches his potential, or lose a lot of money if he doesn’t.
Likewise, Chourio risks leaving money on the table but secures his financial future for life.
